Complete Car Battery Services in Oklahoma City
Oklahoma City & Surrounding Areas
More Than Just Battery Replacement
OKC Mobile Auto offers a complete range of car battery services, not just replacement. While swapping out a dead battery is our most common call, we provide a full menu of battery-related services that can extend your battery life, prevent unexpected failures, and keep your vehicle's electrical system in top shape. All of these services are performed at your location — home, office, or wherever your car is parked in the Oklahoma City metro area.
Battery testing is probably our most underrated service. Using a professional-grade electronic battery tester, we can assess your battery's current state of health in about 5 minutes. The tester measures internal resistance, CCA capacity (compared to the battery's rated CCA), and state of charge. A battery that tests at 60% of its rated capacity, for example, is technically still working but is a failure risk in the next few months — especially heading into winter. Knowing this lets you plan a replacement at your convenience instead of getting surprised.
We also handle jump starts for situations where the battery is discharged but not necessarily bad. Left the headlights on overnight? Interior light stuck on? Car sat for two weeks while you were on vacation? A jump start followed by a 20-minute drive might be all you need. But we always test after jumping to make sure the battery can actually hold the charge. If it cannot, we can replace it right then. No second trip needed.
Terminal and Connection Services
Corroded battery terminals are one of the most common and most overlooked causes of electrical problems in vehicles driven in Oklahoma. The combination of heat, humidity, and under-hood temperatures creates the perfect environment for that white and green crusty buildup on battery posts and cable ends. This corrosion increases electrical resistance at the connection point, which means less current flows to the starter, and the battery has to work harder to compensate.
Symptoms of corroded terminals include slow cranking (which mimics a weak battery), flickering dashboard lights, intermittent no-start conditions, and sometimes even check engine lights caused by voltage drops to sensors. A lot of people replace their battery thinking it is dead, only to have the same problems with the new one because the real issue was the connections. We clean terminals as part of every battery replacement, but we also offer it as a standalone service.
Our terminal cleaning process includes removing both cable ends, cleaning the battery posts with a dedicated terminal brush, cleaning the inside of the cable clamps, inspecting the cables for internal corrosion or fraying (the cable might look fine on the outside but be corroded inside the insulation), and applying a protective anti-corrosion compound after reconnection. We also check the ground cable connection where it bolts to the engine block or chassis — a common failure point that is easy to miss. This service can fix a lot of electrical weirdness and extend the life of a battery that still has good internal health.
Charging System Diagnostics
Your car battery is only one part of a three-part system: the battery stores electrical energy, the alternator generates it while the engine runs, and the starter motor uses it to crank the engine. If any of these three components fails, the whole system breaks down. That is why every battery service from OKC Mobile Auto includes a charging system check — we want to make sure the new battery is going to last.
The alternator should output between 13.5 and 14.8 volts at idle on most vehicles. Below 13.5 volts, the battery is not being fully charged while you drive, which means it is slowly discharging every time you use it. Above 14.8 volts, the battery is being overcharged, which causes the electrolyte to boil off (in conventional batteries) or gas buildup (in AGM batteries), both of which damage the battery and shorten its life significantly. We check output at idle and under load (headlights, AC, and rear defroster on) to make sure the alternator maintains proper voltage across the operating range.
We also check for parasitic draws. A parasitic draw is an electrical component that continues drawing current when the car is off. Small draws are normal — the clock, alarm system, and key fob receiver draw a few milliamps. But a faulty module, a stuck relay, or an aftermarket accessory like an alarm or stereo that was wired incorrectly can draw enough current to kill a battery overnight. If you keep killing batteries and cannot figure out why, a parasitic draw test can pinpoint the problem. We offer this service throughout the Oklahoma City metro — call (405) 295-0635 to schedule.
