Battery Recycling

Responsible Battery Disposal,
Handled For You.

Every battery we replace is safely recycled. Zero hassle, zero environmental guilt.

The Facts

Why Battery Disposal Matters

Car batteries aren't ordinary trash. They contain hazardous materials that demand responsible handling.

18-21
pounds

of lead — a toxic heavy metal that causes neurological damage, contaminates soil, and poisons groundwater when improperly disposed of.

~1
gallon

of sulfuric acid in every car battery. This corrosive liquid can burn through organic material and devastate aquatic ecosystems if it reaches waterways.

99%
recycling rate

Car batteries are the #1 most recycled consumer product in America. Nearly every component can be reclaimed and reused in new products.

It's illegal in Oklahoma to throw car batteries in the trash. Oklahoma DEQ regulations classify lead-acid batteries as hazardous waste. Improper disposal can result in fines and criminal penalties — and it contaminates soil and groundwater for decades.
Nothing Goes To Waste

What Gets Recycled

Every part of your old battery has a second life. Here's where it all goes.

60%
of battery weight

Lead

The lead plates and grids are melted down at high temperatures, purified, and cast into new battery components. Lead is infinitely recyclable — it loses none of its properties through the recycling process. The lead in your next battery may have been recycled dozens of times already.

neutralized & converted

Sulfuric Acid

The electrolyte solution is carefully drained and either neutralized into clean water, converted to sodium sulfate for use in detergent and glass manufacturing, or reconditioned and reused in new batteries. Nothing goes down the drain.

ground & remolded

Plastic Case

The polypropylene case is cleaned, shredded into small chips, and melted down. This recycled plastic is used to manufacture new battery cases, automotive parts, and consumer products — keeping hundreds of tons of plastic out of landfills each year.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Is battery disposal really free?

Yes, it's included with every battery replacement service we perform. There is no extra charge, no hidden fee, and no fine print. When we install your new battery, we take the old one with us and ensure it's properly recycled at a certified facility. It's part of our standard service.

Can I just drop off an old battery with you?

Our service is mobile — we come to you, not the other way around. If you have an old battery sitting in your garage that needs proper disposal, book a battery replacement service and mention the extra battery. We'll take it with us when we come out. Alternatively, most auto parts stores like AutoZone and O'Reilly accept old batteries for recycling.

What if my battery is leaking?

Do not attempt to move a leaking battery yourself. Sulfuric acid can cause serious chemical burns to skin and eyes, and the fumes are harmful to breathe. Call us at (405) 295-0635 and we'll safely remove and dispose of it using proper protective equipment and containment procedures. Leaking batteries are genuinely hazardous — let the professionals handle it.
