Special Vehicle Types We Handle
Beyond standard passenger cars and trucks, we handle several special vehicle categories. Diesel trucks (Ford F-250/350 6.7L Power Stroke, Ram 2500/3500 6.7L Cummins, Chevy 2500/3500 6.6L Duramax) often use dual-battery setups. These trucks have two batteries wired in parallel to provide the high cranking amperage needed for diesel compression ignition. We carry batteries for dual-battery applications and replace both batteries when needed — replacing just one of a mismatched pair can cause charging imbalances.
Hybrid vehicles present unique battery considerations. Most hybrids have two batteries: a high-voltage battery pack for the electric drive system (which is a specialty repair) and a standard 12V auxiliary battery that powers the accessories and starts the vehicle. The 12V battery in hybrids like the Toyota Prius, Honda Insight, Ford Escape Hybrid, and Hyundai Ioniq is what we replace. These are often smaller form factors (Group 46B24R or similar) and may be located in the trunk or under the rear seat instead of under the hood.
Vehicles with start-stop technology require AGM batteries specifically designed for frequent deep cycling. The start-stop system shuts off the engine at stoplights and restarts it when you lift off the brake — this puts much higher cycling demands on the battery than a conventional vehicle. Vehicles with this technology include most 2018+ Ford vehicles, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Chevy Silverado with the L84 engine, and many European models. Installing a conventional battery in a start-stop vehicle causes premature failure and may trigger warning lights. We always install the correct battery type.
